What is Catholic Young Adults Association



 

 

The Catholic Young Adults Association (CYAA) is a transitional group between Senior Youths of the Catholic Church and all other Adult Associations. Its primary objective is to encourage its members to accept responsibility of supporting the Church by taking an active role in programs of the church at Parish, Deanery and Archdiocese level. The group also exists to promote Christian vocations and values among its members. The Association is the Archdiocesan Umbrella Organisation responsible for all young adults’ programmes and their coordination at Parish, Deanery and Archdiocese level. 




AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of the Association shall be to assist members in promoting their spiritual and social welfare.




2.1.        Spiritual Welfare
·   To revive our Catholic Faith and as well encourage members of the association to accept responsibility of supporting the Church by taking an active role in all Spiritual related matters at Parish/ Deanery and Diocese level.
·         To evangelize non-Christians and lapsed Catholics.
·         To promote vocations, by supporting Priestly and Religious calling and as well as encourage good faithful Catholic Marriages.
·         To encourage unmarried couples to live faithfully and assist them in receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony thus promoting Catholic Marriages amongst members of the Association.
·         To establish and encourage proper and faithful friendship amongst its members.
·         To establish a good relationship by cooperating with Parish Councils and other church associations.
·        To promote Christian values amongst its members e.g. visiting or praying for the sick, and caring for the less privileged / needy etc.

Social Welfare
·         To form a transitional group that will be a link or bridge between the Youth and the Adults in order to bring about a better understanding and appreciate each other in the three stages of our life cycle.
·         To assist members in solving problems by sharing life experiences as Catholic Young Adults and organize Social related seminars.
·         To provide members with good opportunities to meet during their leisure time as friends in a Christian atmosphere.
·         To plan and organize Social gatherings/ Picnics e.t.c with respect to Christian values.
·        To live an exemplary life in the Church Community and in the Civil Society.



ENROLLMENT CONDITIONS
·         Members must be between 25 and 35years.
·         Catholic single parents below the age of 25 can be members.
·         Catholics who are customarily married can be members.

 
     Membership Compositions
The association will cater for -
·         Single members
·         Customarily married couples
·         Single parents
·        Catholics between the age of 25-35 years belonging to other movements/devotions and those recommended by the Spiritual Director.
