I greet you in the name of the Lord. On the 27th of September 2017 Pope Francis Launched the Share the Journey Campaign, where he speaks on how immigrates are being treated all over the world. He has asked us as Catholics to speak out and create public awareness campaign that promotes opportunities and spaces for migrants and communities to come together. With this in mind the Youth Office in collaboration with CARITAS ZIMBABWE will launch this campaign on the 21st of October 2017 at St Patrick’s parish as from 9am.

We therefore invite all young people [Young Adults, Youth
and M.C.A.] to attend this event. Listen to good music, drama and other various forms of entertainment while we share the journey as a family.

Share the Journey is a campaign to raise awareness on Migration and Human Trafficking. On 27 September 2017 Pope Francis Launched a World wide Share the Journey Campaign against Human Trafficking and effects of Migration. Our local launch in the Archdiocese of Bulawayo shall be on 21 October 2017 @ St Patrick's Parish in Makokoba from 1200hrs. I kindly urge everyone of you to be there to tell your story, a friend's story, a relative story and be the voice of the voiceless...be a defender against human trafficking, take a stand against ill treatment of migrants, be part of the ARCHDIOCESE voice that speaks up against the inhuman treatment of our brothers and sisters who are lured by promises of opportunity.

On Share the Journey Campaign

A very good afternoon to you brothers and sisters in Christ. On the 11th of August 2017 i posted a communique share about a Campaign, Share the Journey on Migration and Human Trafficking. Tomorrow is 27 September 2017 and Pope Francis shall be Launching a World wide Share the Journey Campaign against Human Trafficking and effects of Migration. Our local launch in the Archdiocese of Bulawayo shall be on 21 October 2017. I kindly urge everyone of you to tell your story, a friend's story, a relative story and be the voice of the voiceless...be a defender against human trafficking by raising awareness, take a stand against ill treatment of migrants...kindly send through your messages of solidarity against victims of these disturbances through to the Youth Office or inbox me. In collaboration with Caritas we want to design messages that shall be disseminated by us the Young People as a stand against the inhuman treatment of our brothers and sisters who are lured by promises of opportunity.

Dear Priests, Deacons, Religious and Faithful of the Archdiocese of Bulawayo,
 As we are drawing closer to the year of the family we thank the Lord for the many blessings we continue to receive in our personal lives and in our families. Let us value high our families especially the Catholicity of our families. Continue to pray for your families. The disciples of Jesus approached Him and said; “Lord increase our faith” Luke. 17; 5. Let this  be our daily prayer too.  A family without strong faith in the Lord cannot find its genuine meaning  and value.
1. Prayer for the Care of Creation: From last year  Pope Francis has declared 01 September as a day to pray for the care of creation. This was a result of his Encyclical titled “Laudato Si”. In that he says; “This sister(the earth) now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her. We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will. The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and in all forms of life. This is why the earth herself, burdened and laid waste, is among the most abandoned and maltreated of  our poor; she “groans in travail”. We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth; our very bodies are made up of her elements, we breathe her air and we receive life and refreshment from her waters”. (Laudato Si No.2).
Therefore it is  our prime responsibility to take care of the earth and protect it. We waste lot of things of the earth like its natural resources, food, water, fuel etc. We pollute the earth with material waste. Our rivers are polluted. Water is no more safe to drink. There is scarcity of food.  This compromises our health and welfare as human beings. As Catholics let us be responsible in the use of things. Let us preserve  our land and its resources for the future generation. We only need to use  the necessary food. We do not need to litter our roads and fields with plastics and waste. We can save fuel by using public transport systems or by reducing unnecessary travels. Let us plant some trees around  our homes and parishes. Let us keep the place around our churches free of pollution and litter. Let us teach our children the value of the creation and its resources. This is being responsible Catholics and stewards of creation.  Let us be ambassadors of the care and protection of our “common home”the earth.

3. Silver Jubilee:  We congratulate the following sisters who  celebrate their silver jubilee  of religious profession this year:

4. ZCBC Financial Fraud Policy:  The Zimbabwe Catholic  Bishop’s Conference(ZCBC)  has approved a Policy  to deal with any mismanagement of funds and property  within the Church. This policy is applicable to all clergy, religious and laity in the Church.

5. Pilgrimage to Empandeni:  This year it will take place on 6th October starting at 17.00 hours ending on the following morning.

6. Year of the Family:  I would like to  thank the whole family of the Archdiocese of Bulawayo for taking active part in all the various celebrations during this year. We had a very good participation for the ordination to priesthood and pilgrimage to Our Lady of Fatima despite the unfriendly weather. Let us continue to uphold our faith proudly.

7. AGM of the Laity 2017:  This will take place at Emthonjeni Pastoral Centre  from 27th to 29th October. 

8. Accounts Clerk:  Mrs. Anilly Muromba  is appointed Accounts clerk for the Archdiocese of Bulawayo to work with the Financial Administrator.

Mini - World Youth Day, Durban South Africa

Greetings to you brethren. Catholic Young People's Spiritual Directors and Youth Coordinators from Southern Africa met on the sidelines of W.Y.D Krakow 2018 evaluation and agreed to come up with a Mini W.Y.D for Southern Africans so that they experience the pilgrimage here first before embarking on the Panama one in 2019.

It was agreed by Spiritual Directors and Youth Coordinators that this event shall happen every 4 years to afford Southern African young people to meet and interact on issues of faith while worshiping. This pilgrimage will start this year in Durban, South Africa.   The Mini - W.Y.D will run from 3 - 10 December 2017. Take note of the following;

. Archdiocese of Bulawayo C.Y.A.A was offered 40 places to take up subject to other diocese not attending.
. Local registration has been pegged at $10
.Food and accomodation at R2250
. Transport fees yet to be confirmed.
. Travel shall be by air/road
. Deadline of payment is 31 August 2017

Share The Journey Campaign

A pleasant day to you all. Wish to bring to your attention that the Pope has declared 27 September 2017 as the launch day for Share The Journey Campaign. This is a campaign to increase awareness on the effects of Migration to both known and unknown boundaries in search of be it greener pastures. The Holy Father notes with deep concern that most people fall victim to the lure of opportunities such as jobs, university scholarships and many such other only to fall into the hands of human traffickers and organ harvesters. He encourages us young people to be aware of these dangers and do intensive research on these opportunities that lay all over the internet. Also what i will urge is that we be worry of even possible cases in our own motherland and nearby neighboring countries.

Locally, Caritas has proposed to work in collaboration with the C.Y.A.A, C.Y.A and M.C.A to launch a similar campaign on the 14th of October 2017 with a match from the City Hall to the Basilica to conscientise the Bulawayo Community about Migration and its effects.

As the Young People in the Archdiocese of Bulawayo we saw this as an opportunity to add our voice in the call to stop human trafficking and organ harvesting by taking the lead to speak about the good and bad of Migration. Social Media and print is awash about cases of Young People loosing their lives in a quest to search for better life sustaining opportunities.

Our primary role in this campaign is to prepare and plan for the success of this day. We look forward to have ambassadors of this campaign coming from you the C.Y.A.A. These ambassadors will be conscientised on discussion issues that they will take to parishes across our diocese in preparation of the 14th of October 2017. If all goes according to plan the propositions that we sent to Caritas include;

. airing in Skyz Metro to talk about Share The Journey Campaign
. interviews or share of experiences of victims of Migration
. production of IEC material

We agreed to this initiative because we shared a common understanding labanawethu that since its the Year of the Family lets show the love and care of one another in our Bulawayo community by informing and getting informed by others.
